Golden Girls -Janine Glanz

Janine Glanz is a painter based in the village of Riebeek Kasteel, an hour outside Cape Town, where she works from her studio and gallery. Her passion for painting began in childhood through colouring books, paint-by-numbers, comics, and illustrated annuals.

Working without a fixed formula, Glanz approaches each painting as a unique journey, often beginning with a thought, memory, or fleeting moment that gradually unfolds on canvas. Through layered techniques and underpainting, unexpected elements frequently emerge and shape the final work.

Nostalgia plays an important role in her practice, with many pieces drawing inspiration from old photographs and reflections on simpler times.
